Contracts & Contradictions
As I read a short excert from the story The Watsons Go to Birmingham By Christopher Paul Curtis I noticed how the character Byron changed. In the beginning of the story he tries to be tough and not care about how be hurts other people but then he realized what hes done to other people. On page 56 we see a change in Byron. In the story Byron always acts tough and cool and never cares about how he hurts other people. Then he is trying to hit a bird with cookies that his brother and him are eating. Byron didnt think that he was going to hit the bird but when he did and saw it lying dead on the ground he got very emotional and started crying and holding the bird. Then he made the little bird a grave and left. I think Byron acted this way because he always bullies other people but he never knows how they are feeling or how he is hurting them so when he killed the bird it made him think about how it makes people feel when they are being bullied by him. Another reason is that he wasnt expecting to hit the bird so when it did he didnt know what to do.
